No matter how hard anyone tries you just can't erase history, that is unless you erase mankind, all mankind. It is for a good reason that we shouldn't. A nation must know from where it came to determine it's destiny. I am not defending slavery , far from it, I'm defending history and much , much more. Will the founding fathers be next, many of them owned slaves, 44 of the declaration of Independence signers were slave owners. Do we also get rid of it, the Constitution, bill of rights, all of these were constructed and have guided this nation for over 250 years. It was the very words constructed by slave owning founders that brought the Evil of slavery to an end. They are solely responsible along with the blood of Patriots for us to become the beacon to the world. Yes flawed men created the very foundation that made us strong. Hundreds of other nations have and many still have the slave trade, so do we erase (nuke) them. My father for a short time considered joining the John Bircher Society, until he read and found the true things they stood for, I carry his blood so should I be eliminated along with all who lived in the south? I assure you without the faith, wisdom and determination of our God fearing Free minded founders this nation as it stands and the freedom we have would not exist today. If we truly understand why we are a Republican form of Government, not a democracy we will survive but without the true history of our origin we will surely fail! As long as humans rule the world it will remain flawed and without God it will surely fail, sooner, not later! For those who think America is evil they need only to realize there are 30 million people who are slaves in over 162 countries around the world today , do we erase (nuke) them also.
July 4th - This day we celebrate the birth of our Nation. Yes it is a day worthy of celebration. Freedom, Justice, Liberty, strong words with a meaning most people still all over the world would do anything to have. Strangely history tells us that during the American revolution most Colonist didn't want to fight or separate from the King, oh they all wanted their freedom but few were willing to die for it. Kinda sounds like the America we live in today and of our yesterdays huh? Thank God for our Founding Fathers , men of true courage who not only put their very life on the line for this experiment, but most were wealthy men and used their fortunes to bring America to life. Throughout our History only a few have ever placed everything up to and including their very life to preserve this Nation . Total cost of freedom is staggering for us with over one point four million dead, millions more suffered physical wounds and millions and millions more suffer the invisible wounds of war. Yet almost to the man or woman they all said they would do it all over again even knowing the out come. So this is a day worthy celebrating and The American Legions across the Nation are physically involved putting on events, Parades all across this great, fantastic, Freedom loving land. So as I say Ride Free, Ride Hard, Ride safe, and give thanks to God for the Freedom we have and those who paid the BILL.
John Adams in a speech to the military in 1798 warned his fellow countrymen stating. "We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions and unbridled by morality and religion...Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people . It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other"
Noah Webster, author of the first speller and dictionary said "The Christian religion, in its purity, is the basis, or rather the source of all genuine freedom in government... and I am persuaded that no civil government of a republican form can exist or be durable in which the principles of that religion have not a controlling influence"
None of the Founding Fathers believed the Government should be involved with religion as to a single individual rights to believe in God or Not, They believed that the republican form of Government they created can not and will not continue to exist without a moral people and moral Government that is not based on the precepts of the Christian religion and the rights of the people to practice it with full freedom not hampered by government! Example freedom of speech in any federal building or on any federal property allow the individual to say they hate or don't believe in God or religion and Christians have the same right to pray or speak of the Bible on any federal property.
I read a recent study that a majority of Americans believe the first amendment to the constitution contains the words separation of church and state or a wall of separation , sadly enough if you tell a lie often enough people will actually believe it.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion , or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
AND THAT IS EVERY WORD IN THE FIRST AMENDMENT, I see no restrictions only the guarantee to practice or speak freely , Every day hear things that we totally or disgustingly disagree with and we are guaranteed we don't have to pay attention but not the right to prevent the other from speaking or in the case of religion prohibiting the free exercise of it!
